Art in Bloom 2013 Part I

A few weeks ago I went to my fourth Art in Bloom at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It's such a beautiful place and well-put together. It gets bigger and bigger each year.

Art in Bloom is an event in which local florists come and create arrangements inspired by the pieces in the museum. There are always a lot that I adore so, I'll post photos twice from this event. ENJOY!

One of my favorite places.

My third visit to one of my favorite places and art museums. Many of the world's most famous pieces reside in the Windy City. If you have a day free when in Chicago and you love art, you should make it a priority to spend the day at The Art Institute of Chicago.

Minneapolis Favorites

I decided to share some photos of some of my favorite pieces at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This is not all of them but a few. Including a Maxfield Parrish piece that I adore and was gifted with a song written just for me to go with it.

St. Paul Art Crawl

Another event I attended recently was the St. Paul Art Crawl. I seem to only make it to one every couple of years but, I always love it. An art crawl is when artiists living in lofts and co-ops open up their studios which are also often their homes to showcase their work. You can find absolutely amazing things. There are so many things for sale and I often find myself wishing I had an endless bank roll and endless gallery space at my disposal. One of the thingss I truly love about the Twin Cities is the thriving art scene.  I'm lucky enough to not only know a lot of talented people but to have my home filled with lots of their work.

More from this lovely afternoon

Art in Bloom

I love the art museum here in Minneapolis. It's not very big but it is so lovely and well put together. Last year I attended my first Art in Bloom and then my second this past weekend. It is an event in which artists and florists make arrangements inspired by pieces throughout the museum. They are so lovely and some of them smell amazing.

These are photos from this past Friday. I have so many I may have to do another post!

Love captured

This is one of my favorite works of art. The artist is Antonio Canova.
Something I will always treasure as a memory is going to The Met in NYC in May of 2010. It was an amazing day. People can create the most beautiful and wondrous things. The visit filled me with inspiration. Every time I look at the pictures from that day, I feel a renewed sense of creativity. I would love to know what inspires other people.
So the original of this sculpture is in the Louvre and a second in the Hermitage. Both are places I plan to go in my life.
It was commissioned in 1787. The name of it is, Psyche revived by Cupid's kiss.
The story of which is considered the first fairy tale. It is also a theme in art that continuously fills me with joy. I find it so sad and beautiful.
