He's so wonderful. I've been a fan going on 15 years (which is wonderful and horrifying) and he never fails to impress me.
Florence Fairy Tale Deux
I got to see Florence and the Machine for a second time at the beautiful, historic State Theater. It's such a gorgeous venue. Florence herself. commented on it's loveliness. The show was wonderful and she did not disappoint. Her stage set up is much bigger than last year and she was certainly more relaxed this time around. A few pics from my seat in the balcony!~
Girly Geek Collections
So, I collect a fair amount of different things. Many of them geek related such as female action figures and certain comic books. I collect handmade necklaces and evening bags for the more girly side of my personality.
One of my collections I've been working on lately is my Harry Potter Legos. I don't have all of them yet. The newest sets are the ones I haven't added to my collection yet. Which is okay for now since until very recently I didn't have anywhere to have them set up Now, that I do I've been putting them all together.
The earliest ones are great because they have colors of bricks in them exclusive to the Harry Potter line and have since been retired. Greens, orange and purples. I'm sure I'll post many pics as I go but here are a few to start.
Minneapolis Favorites
I decided to share some photos of some of my favorite pieces at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This is not all of them but a few. Including a Maxfield Parrish piece that I adore and was gifted with a song written just for me to go with it.
St. Paul Art Crawl
Another event I attended recently was the St. Paul Art Crawl. I seem to only make it to one every couple of years but, I always love it. An art crawl is when artiists living in lofts and co-ops open up their studios which are also often their homes to showcase their work. You can find absolutely amazing things. There are so many things for sale and I often find myself wishing I had an endless bank roll and endless gallery space at my disposal. One of the thingss I truly love about the Twin Cities is the thriving art scene. I'm lucky enough to not only know a lot of talented people but to have my home filled with lots of their work.

Art in Bloom 2012 Part II
More from this lovely afternoon
Art in Bloom
I love the art museum here in Minneapolis. It's not very big but it is so lovely and well put together. Last year I attended my first Art in Bloom and then my second this past weekend. It is an event in which artists and florists make arrangements inspired by pieces throughout the museum. They are so lovely and some of them smell amazing.
These are photos from this past Friday. I have so many I may have to do another post!
You can read more about the museum here, artsmia
Gothic Fairy Tale Tradition
An event I love and have attended since it's inception is Goth Prom.
The idea is for you to have all the fun you didn't get to have in high school.
The themes through the years have varied such as; Catacombs, Steampunk, Night Circus, and Midnight Garden. It's a great excuse to buy a new and unique dress and have friends over for absinthe. Here's some pictures from past proms.
It's a very tongue-in-cheek affair full of 80's and 90's dance music and lots of silliness.

My Spring Beginning
Towers of Flowers, the 2011 Macy's Flower show
What marks the start of Spring for me here in the Twin Cities is the annual Macy's Flower Show at the downtown Minneapolis store. Up on the 8th floor this pretty(and free event) is something I've been doing for about 5 years now. Here are some pictures from last year. I will be going to this year's show this week so, I'll have pictures of that soon as well. Plus, I have a new camera which I am very excited to use!
My Patron Goddess of Music, a concert fairy tale Last Summer...
I was lucky enough to get tickets to the sold out Florence and the Machine show. I am completely in love with this woman and music. The concert was amazing and surreal, taking place outdoors in the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater. Set against a back drop of trees and water, the summer warmth created a mist that surrounded the show all evening. Florence Welch brough music back to life for me. Her vocals are astounding, sounding better live than all the studio stardust producers can pour into an album. Listen to Florence and the Machine and fall in dark, heady love.
I get to see her again in a month and I am beside myself with excitement.
Fairy Tales, mine and yours
I have been thinking a lot about fairy tales lately. I'm not sure specifically why. Maybe because I like the show Grimm so much and could the costumes on Once Upon a Time be more amazing? I've also always been a reader of fairy tales, old and new. I think they can really make you look at life in new ways. As I get older I've realized it becomes more and more important to have and seek out those fairy tale like days and nights. I think I'm going to be regularly sharing my fairy tales both old and new with you. I'd like to start with a fairy tale weekend that took place Halloween 2010 at the House on the Rock http://www.thehouseontherock.com/. Easily one of most unique places in the world. It was a weekend hosted by Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite writers, in celebration of his book, American Gods.
Besides, touring this astounding place there was a party, signings, costume contests and a panel with Neil- which for me was truly something special because my question was choosen to be addressed by him!
Here are some pictures from the weekend and believe me when I tell you this barely scratches the surface of this amazing place.
